The name Biamota was created from the initials of the three founders, Bianchi, Morri and Tamburini. Tamburini's love and engineering skills were the force behind the company, the racing frames created became the must have for all racers. The development of the KB1 created a turning point for the company and in turn brought them success. This company was created accidently. Massimo Tamburini modified local riders machines to made them lighter and sharper to handle as well as go faster, This was noticed by a journalist in 1972, when the three friends were testing a specially framed Honda CB750, and he wrote an article about it causing much interest and so in 1973 Bimota was born! The company, sadly, was declared bankrupt and had to shut up shop however new investors brought the rights and the designs in 2003 to restart the company.
